I'm not 1005 sure if that's how it worked in Saudi Arabia at the time, but meh he at least got a cushy job. Maybe he did become a prince.

It's not Saudi Arabia, though. It's Agrabah, which is a fantasy kingdom. They have their own rules. :P I guess, technically, he became Sultan, which is more of a king in some aspects.

Yeah, the Sultan even states in a scene during the movie that when Aladdin marries Jasmine he would become Sultan. It was implied that they got married at the end of the movie, but the sequels made by another branch of the Disney company made it look like they hadn't been married yet. Anyway, he is considered royalty by the end of the movie. :P
