If I may offer a suggestion-- Maybe if you're having a problem with facial features looking too much like established characters, you should spend some time looking at photos of people and see what makes them look different from other people. Try going through several pages, drawing nothing but caricatures until something stands out to you, and work on from there. :D

Extravagant colors aren't going to change her facial features and frankly, I was looking at your animatic (which is awesome!) and I liked the look of her face in the animatic over the look in this model sheet. She looks just like Disney's Tiana there, and that's going to override the animation and distract from the animation and story.
